Robert Day brings to clients practical knowledge and skills based on a career international business, and an understanding of how cross-cultural issues affect business objectives and organizational effectiveness. As an American living in Europe working for a Japanese company, he understands the need for effective intra-company teamwork across borders, and the demands and requirements of cross-cultural contact. He knows what it means to be both an expatriate and part of a very multi-cultural family.

He has over 20 years experience in international management development, not only as independent specialist, but also as a member of a corporate team in positions of responsibility for training and management development.

His international experience includes 17 years based in Great Britain (1988 - 2005), working across the UK and Europe, first as European Development and Training Manager for Hitachi Data Systems (1988 ? 1995), then as independent consultant in intercultural management and communication to clients in a variety of business sectors. At Hitachi, he was accountable for ensuring that all training ? Sales, Customer Service, Professional Skills, and Management ? supported the business objectives of Hitachi Data in Europe.

Prior to relocating overseas, he managed, developed, and delivered training for all levels of staff and management at National Semiconductor Corporation and Bechtel Power Corporation in California. He also lived and studied for two years in France, and speaks fluent French.

Currently, in addition to consulting and training, he is Adjunct Assistant Professor of International Business at Quinnipiac University in Connecticut, USA, and convenor/lecturer in Comparative International Management at Reading University, England.

He holds an MA degree in Education, specializing in language acquisition and cross-cultural communication, from the Graduate School of Education of the University of California Berkeley. He also holds the Certificat Didactique des Moyens Audio-visuels from the Universite la Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris, and a BA from Yale.
